Ryan is currently studying for a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) and is a lifelong nerd. Ryan is passionate about supporting people to achieve their goals and recognises that the inherent principles and frameworks that exist within TTRPGs provide an excellent platform from which to explore (sometimes complex) social situations and build social skills in a safe and gentle manner.
Ryan’s lived experience with depression, anxiety and a late diagnosis of ADHD has led to a diverse vocational background including art, design, tabletop gaming and theatre (to mention a few!). Alongside therapy, over the years tabletop board and roleplaying games helped Ryan to come out of their shell and socialise in a safe and structured environment. Later, DMing games and the low pressure organisation it required helped to develop tools to effectively manage their ADHD.
Ryan’s personal journey and experience has played a significant factor in their drive to support others which has led to working in the disability support sector.
