Daniel has been working with kids and teens for the better part of a decade on camps and youth group programs, and joined Knights of the Shed in 2022. Supporting people as they learn and grow at Knights of the Shed has been a huge passion for them, first with participants as a therapy assistant and more recently in supporting other therapy assistants alongside the participants as a Social Skills Instructor.
Additionally, they’ve really enjoyed being able to play a part in engaging with different forms of play as learning; having grown up learning half the school curriculum through educational video games, they have a strong belief in the power of whimsy and fun as a tool for developing skills and learning concepts. They’ve recently been diagnosed with ADHD, and having neurodivergent family and friends have been thrilled to play a part in supporting others to find a place where they can let down their guard, get to know people with similar experiences of the world, and practise social skills in a safe and supportive environment.
When not working, Daniel enjoys writing whimsical children’s stories about small forgotten corners of the world, little gnomes and sentient snails.
